The announcement of a transport subsidy by Minister Michael Creed will certainly be a relief for those with rapidly dwindling fodder supplies.
‘This is a long winter and farmers in Galway are particularly affected. Following my discussions with Minister Creed and farmer’s representative I welcome this positive announcement. The farmer’s representative bodies had also campaigned for the subsidy to help farmers to access fodder at a reasonable price.
‘The adverse weather over the long period means fodder is getting scarce in certain parts of the country. I am now urging the Co-ops and the Department to work closely so that there are no unnecessary delays.
