I welcome the allocation of funding from the Office of Public Works of €104,400 for projects in Galway East.
The projects are funded under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works Scheme.
‘The three projects to be funded are Rahins, Mountbellew, works will include cleaning existing open roadside drains for approximately 200m, construct headwall at end of proposed 600mm diameter pipeline and associated works. Grattan Park, Mountbellew to replace and upsize the existing 600mm diameter pipe to 1050mm diameter pipe and associated works. Skenanagh, Ballinasloe for channel maintenance works, including the removal of vegetation, upsizing of the existing road crossing an install a 900mm diameter pipe under the roadway.
‘The funding will be allocated to Galway County Council who will carry out the works in the coming months.
‘This is another example of the great co-operation that exists between Galway County Council and the Office of Public Works in getting worthwhile projects like these underway.
“The Minor Works Scheme was adjusted during my term as Minister for the Office of Public Works and these adjustments means that more projects can receive funding”
