Householders struggling to pay fuel bills should avail of improvements to the Warmer Homes Scheme.
The scheme, which aims to help all those living in fuel poverty, is being extended to cover major energy efficiency upgrades, including external wall insulation, renewable heating systems and replacement windows.
The initial scheme offered grants for home improvements such as attic insulation, draught proofing, low energy light bulbs, cavity wall insulation and lagging jackets.

People are deemed to be in fuel poverty if they spend more than 10% of their household income on energy bills. The Minister for the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment Denis Naughten has allocated €24 million to the scheme for 2018.
