Minister Canney welcomes commencement of wastewater network extension works in Athenry
Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports and Leader in Cabinet of the Independent Ministers, has welcomed the commencement of works to extend the public wastewater network at Raheen in Athenry.
The Uisce Éireann project will deliver a 500-metre sewer main extension and new service connections, strengthening wastewater infrastructure to serve existing customers and support future residential and commercial development in the town.
Minister Canney said: “Athenry continues to grow and develop, and it is essential that the infrastructure needed to support that growth keeps pace.
“This investment in the wastewater network at Raheen will improve services for homes and businesses in the area, allow additional customers to connect to the public network and provide important capacity for future development.
Works are due to begin this week and will take approximately 10 weeks to complete.
To allow the works to be carried out safely, the L3101 between the Gort Mhaoilir junction and the Raheen roundabout will be closed for a period of six weeks.
A signed diversion will be in place, with traffic diverted via Ballydavid South, the L3105 and Gort Mhaoilir.
Customers can sign up for Uisce Éireann’s free text alert service using their Eircode and mobile number. Updates will also be available through Uisce Éireann’s website, social media channels and its 24-hour customer care line on 1800 278 278.
