Minister Canney welcomes Force Majeure for ACRES Geese and Swans action
Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports and Leader in Cabinet of the Independent Ministers, has welcomed confirmation that Force Majeure is being applied to the ACRES Geese and Swans action due to the extreme drought this summer, following discussions he held with Minister Martin Heydon.
This means that the requirement to vacate land from 1 October will not apply.
Minister Canney said: “I was delighted to negotiate with Minister Martin Heydon on this issue and I welcome this practical measure for affected farmers.
“Farmers who wish to graze or cut these lands must email their herd number to geese&swans@agriculture.gov.ie beforehand.
