Minister Canney welcomes progress towards reopening Dunguaire Castle
Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports and Leader in Cabinet of the Independent Ministers, has welcomed significant progress towards bringing Dunguaire Castle, Kinvara back into public use.
Following his interventions with the Chief Executive of Galway County Council, Mr. Liam Conneally, Minister Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran and the Office of Public Works and Minister James Browne and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Minister Canney has confirmed that constructive discussions have taken place and that he expects a positive outcome which will see Dunguaire Castle returned to public use.
Welcoming the progress, Minister Canney said: “Following my interventions, I can confirm that constructive discussions have taken place between all parties, and I expect a positive outcome to these discussions which will bring Dunguaire Castle back into public use.”
“The castle will require major renovation works to make it safe for public use, and I look forward to seeing those works take place so that this landmark can once again be enjoyed by the public.”
Minister Canney also acknowledged the cooperation shown by all those involved in progressing the discussions.
