I have received confirmation the an application by Action Tuam to Enterprise Ireland under the Enterprise Ireland Regional Enterprise Innovation Scoping Scheme (REISS) initiative to explore whether Tuam could develop a Creative Industry Hub in Tuam to serve the western region has been successful.
“I want to acknowledge the innovative vision of the Board of Action Tuam in putting forward this application. Tuam can become a hub within the creative industry creating sustainable jobs and keeping Tuam on the map following the success with the creative Places pilot programme”.
The ambition is for Tuam to be a transformative driver of economic growth for the western region in collaboration with existing Creative Industry stakeholders.
The feasibility study will analyse the need and explore the appetite for the development of a Regional Creative Industry Node in Tuam providing specialised infrastructure, technical services and resources enabling enterprises and entrepreneurs in the Creative Industry ecosystem to grow and collaborate at home and internationally.
It is envisaged that the Creative Industry Node will provide space for current arts practitioners and have the potential to act as a natural progression for spin out companies from CREW (Creative Enterprise West) in GMIT who provide incubation and accelerator programmes, training, start-up space and outreach services.
