Minister Canney encourages jobseekers to attend Intreo Work and Skills Events in Galway

Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports and Leader in Cabinet of the Independent Ministers, says a number of Intreo Work and Skills Events taking place in Galway in the next two weeks offers great opportunities for jobseekers.

Over 40 events are taking place nationwide, with events earmarked for Tuam, Gort, Loughrea, Ballinasloe and Galway City between March 5th and 13th.

There is a huge range of opportunities in a variety of sectors including Healthcare, Transport & Logistics, Public Service, Retail, Hospitality, Childcare, Agri-food, Aviation and Education.

The Galway events are as follows:

·      Galway Shopping Centre – Thursday March 5th – 10am-1pm

·      Lough Rea Hotel, Loughrea – Friday March 6th – 10am-1pm

·      Lady Gregory Hotel, Gort – Tuesday March 10th – 10am-12pm

·      Ard Ri Hotel, Tuam – Wednesday March 11th – 10am-1pm

·      Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe – Thursday March 12th – 10am-1pm

The Work and Skills events provide jobseekers with an opportunity to connect with employers who are actively recruiting to explore full‑time, part‑time and flexible job opportunities in their local area.

Jobseekers also can learn about the training options available, and avail of job seeking advice to help them take the next step in their career.

Minister Canney said: “These events offer a great opportunity for jobseekers to meet directly with employers and learn about the jobs on offer and training options available.

There is also an opportunity to find out more about the supports available from the Department of Social Protection to both employers and jobseekers.”

He continued: “Some employers will be actively recruiting at the events and some vacancies can be applied for on the day.”

Information on the full range of events open to the public and how to register to attend is available at www.Gov.ie/WorkandSkills.

All events are tailored for people seeking employment and jobseekers and are not just for people receiving a jobseeker payment.
