Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports and Leader in Cabinet of the Independent Ministers, is reminding students that online applications for SUSI student grants for the 2025/2026 academic year will close on Thursday, 6th November 2025.

Minister Canney said the closing date is an important milestone for students and families planning for the year ahead: “The SUSI grant plays a vital role in supporting students across the country to access further and higher education. I would strongly encourage anyone who has not yet submitted their application to complete it before the November 6th deadline.”

Students who have started but not yet completed an application are urged to log in to their SUSI account and finalise their submission as soon as possible.

After the closing date, only students who meet specific criteria will be considered for a late application. These include:

  • Starting a course in 2026 before the end of the 2025/26 academic year;
  • Experiencing a change in circumstances, such as:
    • Reckonable Income;
    • Number of dependent children;
    • Relevant persons commencing an approved course;
    • Normal residence;
    • Nationality or immigration status; or
    • Change of course or institution;
  • They experienced extenuating circumstances that prevented an application before the closing date of November 6th 2025.

Students who meet these criteria can complete a Late Application Request Form (available on www.susi.ie after the closing date) and email it to [email protected].
