Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports and Leader in Cabinet of the Independent Ministers, has welcomed confirmation of over €1 million in funding for new digital and assistive technology projects to support disabled people across Ireland.

The funding, announced by Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley TD, is being provided under the HSE’s CREATE III initiative. Grants of €75,000–€200,000 will be available for projects that:

  • Design, demonstrate and implement good assistive technology service delivery in areas such as personal mobility, vision, hearing, communication and accessibility.
  • Create accessible digital education, training, and resource hubs following universal design principles to support learning, knowledge-sharing and access to services.

Minister Canney said: “This is a practical investment that will make a real difference to people’s daily lives – supporting independence, inclusion, and participation. From mobility aids to smart home devices, these projects will help remove barriers and ensure people have the tools they need to thrive in their homes, workplaces, and communities.”

Eligible applicants include organisations with a strong track record in assistive technology services, a person and family-centred approach, and a commitment to collaboration. Projects should aim to pilot or scale up innovations, have clear evaluation methods, and incorporate sustainability measures such as repair, reuse and recycling.

Applications are open now and close at 12 noon on 22 September 2025. Queries can be submitted to [email protected] from 15–25 August.
