Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports and Leader in Cabinet of the Independent Ministers, has welcomed the commencement of water mains replacement works on Tuam’s Dublin Road, with crews from Uisce Éireann due to begin on site this week.
The project will involve the replacement of more than 350 metres of ageing water mains with new, modern pipes along the Dublin Road (R332), from Rinkippeen to the Garraun Park Junction.
Minister Canney said the works will deliver long-term benefits for homes and businesses in Tuam.
“This investment will improve the reliability and resilience of the local water network, reduce leakage and ensure a more secure drinking water supply for the area,” he said.
Construction will be limited to short sections to minimise disruption, with traffic management, including traffic lights, in place. Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
Some short-term water supply interruptions may be required for nearby customers. Where planned, customers will receive a minimum of 48 hours’ notice.
