Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports and Leader in Cabinet of the Independent Ministers, has welcomed the announcement of €48,000 for 7 Galway based projects, as part of €345,500 in funding for 66 projects nationwide under the 2025 Communicating Europe Initiative (CEI), confirmed today by Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne.
Minister Canney said: “I warmly welcome this investment in local communities and organisations working to engage the public on European Union matters. I’m especially pleased to see funding directed towards a number of Galway-based projects which reflects strong local interest in Ireland’s place in Europe.”
Two projects in Galway East have secured CEI funding:
- Ballinderreen Community Centre – €4,000
- Kilcooley National School, Loughrea – €6,000
In addition, several other Galway based organisations also received funding:
- Ardán – €10,000
- Amdalah Africa Foundation – AMDAF – €7,000
- Ukrainians Helping Ukrainians Galway CLG – €5,000
- University of Galway, School of Law – €8,000

These organisations have outreach services and are engaging with communities across Galway.
The Communicating Europe Initiative supports voluntary organisations, educational institutions, and local authorities in promoting public engagement with EU issues.
