Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International & Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports and Leader in Cabinet of the Independent Ministers, has welcomed over €35,000 in funding for Galway-based domestic, sexual and gender-based violence services, as part of a national €3.2 million allocation announced today.
The funding, awarded following a targeted call by Cuan, the national agency for domestic, sexual and gender-based violence, will support service expansion and capacity building across the sector.
The Galway organisations receiving funding are:
- Cope Galway – €15,000
- Galway Rape Crisis Centre – €15,000
- Domestic Violence Response (DVR), Galway – €5,179
Welcoming the allocation, Minister Canney said: “These organisations provide essential, often life-changing support for victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Galway. This funding will help strengthen frontline services and ensure people can access the support they need when they need it most.”
“As demand for services continues to grow, it is vital that local providers are properly resourced. I want to acknowledge the commitment and dedication of the Galway organisations receiving funding today and thank them for the critical work they do in our communities.”
