Blue Star Programme
Primary schools throughout County Galway are being encouraged to take part in this year’s Blue Star programme.
The Blue Star Programme, which has been running since 2011, is an educational initiative for Primary School students across Ireland run by European Movement Ireland with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The idea of the programme is to foster better understanding and knowledge of the European Union amongst primary schools and explain how it affects the lives of Irish citizens through classroom projects and activities. In order to be awarded the Blue Star, schools carry out projects in relation to the history, geography, culture and institutions of the EU; what it does and Ireland’s place in it.
Last year 283 schools all over Ireland participated and it is hoped to double the numbers this year. The closing date for Schools to sign up to this programme is 28th September 2018.
