The Commercial Vehicle Road Testing (CVRT) network will reopen tomorrow Monday May 18, Galway East TD and Minister for Rural Affairs Seán Canney has advised.
Minister Canney said: “Businesses need to be aware that testing of commercial vehicles will resume tomorrow for those with a test date prior to March 28 2020.
“The resumption of testing for vehicles with a test due date on or after March 28 is expected to follow over the coming weeks.
“The resumption of CVRT services will be subject to strict protocols being put in place by each individual CVRT test centre operator in order to comply with COVID-19 workplace regulations.
“It was necessary to close many of the services provided by the Road Safety Authority because of the health emergency.
“This partial resumption for commercial vehicle testing marks an initial restoration of services, which will only continue when it is prudent to do so. This would include the National Driver Licence Service (NDLS), Driver Theory Test (DTT), National Car Test (NCT) and the Driving Test, all of which are currently suspended with expiry dates extended for validity purposes.”
