CANNEY ANNOUNCES NEW LEADER FUNDING FOR GALWAY EAST PROJECTS

Minister Seán Canney has announced two major community funding awards under the LEADER scheme supporting rural development.
The Galway East TD and Minister of State for Rural and Community Development said approval had been given by the department for Sustainable Energy West to enable a minimum of ten community groups in Loughrea to carry out energy audits at their premises.
A second project promoted by Craughwell Athletic Club would help fund the development of community walkways and a jogging path at the club’s facility.
The Loughrea project will receive a grant under the scheme of €12,177 and Craughwell Athletic club has been awarded €16,065.65.
Minister Canney said: “I am announcing funding for these two projects under the LEADER programme and I want to acknowledge the work of Galway Rural Development in supporting them.
“I want to congratulate both Sustainable Energy West and Craughwell Athletic Club for these projects, which will respectively make a valuable contribution to our national initiatives on climate action and healthier living.”
“I also want to acknowledge the continuing efforts of Minister Michael Ring in delivering the LEADER programme to rural Ireland.
