Galway East TD and Minister for Rural Affairs Seán Canney has held discussions with Galway County Council about providing off-street parking in the centre of Headford.
Minister Canney said: “Presently Main Street, Headford, becomes very congested at peak times during the day and evening so it is essential that off-street parking is developed along the Main Street.
“I welcome the fact the Galway County Council recognizes that a problem exists.
“I further understand that a report is being prepared on the options available and the costs of each option in order to decide on how to proceed in finding a solution.
“Headford is a growth centre with a Galway City catchment and as such will continue to grow along with new opportunities for further job creation.
“Off-street parking is essential to ensure that the town to reach its full potential.”
