I gave the keynote address at the National Data Privacy Conference in Dublin this week in my role as Minister for Digital Development.
With the introduction of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we have enabled citizens to have greater control over the purposes for which their data is used.
It is essential that the digital economy flourishes but it can only do so in an environment of trust.
We have a great opportunity with the digital economy to improve the lives of our citizens and the National Digital Strategy that is currently being developed will put Ireland at the forefront of digital innovation.
