Great news from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) that as a result of funding secured in Budget 2020, Galway County Council will receive nearly €29 million to invest in maintaining and upgrading the county’s roads infrastructure.
Major funding in Galway East includes €4 million for phase 2 of the Ballinderreen to Kinvara road realignment,
€840,000 for pavement works on the N67 west of Kilcolgan, €600,000 for the N17 Milltown to Gortnagunnad realignment, €600,000 for phase 2 of pavement strengthening for the N65 at Kilmeen and €250,000 for realignment of the N63 between Liss and Abbey.
There will also be €400,000 allocated for the Galway to Athlone cycle greenway.
I am delighted at these allocations, which are vital for the maintenance and upgrading of our roads network.
The funding of the N67 Ballinderreen to Kinvara is particularly significant and it is very welcome news that the Galway to Athlone greenway will also be funded.
The funding for Galway County Council is part of national roads allocation by Transport Infrastructure Ireland to local authorities of €450 million.
