Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture is on the hunt for up to 2,020 participants for its opening ceremony.
It promises to be one of the biggest events the West has ever seen.
The celebrations will start in Clifden on February 2 and will continue at various locations for seven consecutive nights, including Tuam, Portumna and Athenry.
The 2020 organisation is looking for cast members from each town to take part.
The county events will culminate in a finale involving all participants on the streets of Galway City on the evening of Saturday February 8.
Specific roles for community cast members will include percussionists, chanters, turf bearers, fire carriers, fire
makers and support staff.
Cast members will be instructed by world-class professionals to get ready for the big event.
Galway 2020 says it is an opportunity for people to engage with the European City of Culture celebrations, meet new people and learn new skills.
Behind the scenes staff will include costume fitters and hair and make-up artists.
There will be a launch event for cast members at Leisureland in Galway on November 30.
