It’s time for your community to apply for the Local Authority Pollinator Award as the closing date is May 23rd.
The award aims to encourage Tidy Towns groups to implement pollinator-friendly actions in their local area. Irish bees are in decline and the awards aim to arrest this decline by introducing pollinator friendly measures. There are two award categories, village or small town and large town or urban centre. A prize of €1,000 will be awarded to the four regional winners in each of the two categories and the national winner will receive an additional €1,000.
To see the actions you can take to make your community more bee friendly, see www.pollinators.ie/resources. The application form can also be downloaded from www.pollinators.ie.
