I am urging Galway primary and post primary students to come up with One Good Idea about energy saving and climate action and then to make a short film about it.
The One Good Idea competition is being run by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
This year SEAI is asking students to make a one-minute film encapsulating their idea and to launch a creative awareness campaign about it in their community.
The film and campaign should show people how having One Good Idea can make a difference in terms of savings, energy efficiency and climate action.
The competition is a great initiative that should inspire students to come up with ideas and solutions in an area that so many of them are passionate about.
It is vital that our efforts to tackle climate change are supported and driven at community level.
Students need to register and submit a proposal by Friday October 18. If they are selected to go ahead to the next stage, they should submit their short film and details about their promotional campaign by Friday January 31 2020.
Regional finals will be held in the week beginning February 24, with a National Final to be held in Dublin in April.
Teams can be made up of between two and six students and teachers can register teams online.
Further details of the competition are available at the following link – https://www.seai.ie/community-energy/schools/one-good-idea/how-to-enter/ or by emailing [email protected] .
