GORT – INFORMATION FROM IRISH WATER

Water supply to customers in Gort may be affected tomorrow as upgrade works on the treatment plant continue
Irish Water, working in partnership with Galway County Council, is advising customers in Gort town centre that they may experience a loss of water pressure and customers in outlying areas of the town will experience a water outage on Wednesday, April 3, between 10am and 4pm due to necessary works.
The works are part of an upgrade to the Gort Water Treatment Plant which, when completed, will provide a more advanced treatment process to help protect against contaminants and improve the quality of water supplied to customers.
The works are part of a €2.3 million investment by Irish Water in the upgrade of the Gort and Spiddal Regional Water Supply Schemes which will ensure drinking water is in compliance with the current drinking water regulations.
The project commenced in April 2018 and is expected to be completed by October 2019.
Irish Water is also progressing plans to construct a new water storage reservoir to serve Gort town and outlying areas which will provide 24 hour storage.
Customers with queries can contact the Irish Water customer call centre which is operational 24 hours a day, seven days per week on 1850 278 278.
Information will also be available on the Irish Water website, supply and service section at https://www.water.ie/water-supply/supply-and-service-update/
