Issues relating to flood relief across the country were discussed when I met with a delegation from IFA earlier today (20 July).
The meeting was attended by Joe Healy, President IFA, Padraig Joyce, Chairman of the Connacht IFA along with IFA officials Gerry Gunning and Brian Barry. We were also joined by senior officials from OPW.
At the meeting we discussed flooding and flood relief and areas of mutual concern, including flooding in Gort and South Galway, flooding on the Shannon and in Roscommon in particular.
We discussed how best the IFA can assist OPW in alleviating flooding. We also spoke about CFRAM, which is being rolled out at present. The meeting was very constructive and cordial and there was a great sense of engagement and that can only lead to more positive outcomes to help people suffering from flooding.
