This week I attended a briefing session with the Gambling Awareness Trust, which is a new charity set up to provide support for services around gambling addiction.
The charity aims to: Commission and supervise research into gambling addiction; ensure that service providers have funding to provide addiction counselling, education and gambling awareness services in Ireland; and raise awareness of responsible gambling and ensure people make informed choices.
I want to wish the trust the very best in its endeavours.
Gambling addiction is often a hidden addiction which can exhibit itself in the form of mental health issues. When help is required, proper services need to be available.
