Phase One of the Kilvolan junction in Caherlistrane is now complete.
This involved the setting back of boundaries and building a new stone wall.
I acknowledge the generosity of the Queally family and the support of Barbara Mangan and Stuart Archibald for this project.
The Rural Social Scheme built the wall and their efforts are commendable.
Phase Two of the works includes the realignment of the public road to improve safety at the junction for residents exiting onto the main road.
I have been informed by Galway County Council that these works will be carried out next month as part of the council’s road programme.
Phase Three will be the installation of a footpath linking the junction to the village.
I acknowledge the work of Billy Connelly in driving this project when he was a member of the county council. I also want to thank the people of Kilvolan for their patience and encouragement along the journey.
