Last night the Dáil voted on the Commission of Investigation (Mother and Baby Homes and certain related Matters) Records Bill 2020. I am disappointed for the thousands of people who contacted me during the last number of weeks. I expressed my view that the Bill was flawed, without any Legislative scrutiny and without full debate. Sealing the records for thirty years is a mistake as well as handing the records to Tusla. I made my views known during the debate and I pleaded with Government to give more time so that we could all make the right decision. Unfortunately, the Government did not listen and the Bill was passed.
