I welcome the allocation of €2,688,095 for works to various measures across the county from the Department of Transport.
Works include additional footpaths, pedestrian crossings, zebra crossing and signalised crossing, replacement of existing footpath. The works are spread across 41 projects.
‘Areas that benefit are Tuam €214,000, Kilcloghans Walking Route €80,000, Headford footpath to Corner Chapel €58,000, Caherlistrane footpaths €30,000, Athenry €220,000, Gort River Walk, footbridge rehabilitation €60,000, Athenry Road, Tuam junction €35,000, pedestrian junction on Dunmore Road €15,000, Gort, Craughwell, Portumna and Loughrea footpaths €335,000’.
This funding is a welcome boost to Galway and will provide for accessible and safe walking routes around our towns and villages.
