I welcome the opening of the Xray facility at the Primary Care Centre in Tuam.
The facility was tied up in paperwork since I first secured funding for the facility in 2017 from the then Minister for Health Simon Harris TD.
The Xray facility is available by appointment only through a referral from the GP and will help alleviated the pressure on Galway. It will also save people having to travel into Galway for an Xray from now on.
I am also delighted that the residence from Arus Mhuire Community Nursing Home have all been relocated to the new Joe and Helen O Toole Unit this week after a 5-month delay since the new facility was officially opened last October.
However, I am concerned that the day centre service has not yet opened in the new facility due to more bureaucratic nonsense which is denying older people the full service they are entitled to.
Much progress has been made with the development of the Tuam Health Campus, but the HSE need to deliver all the services required for the region as a matter of urgency.
