ANALYSIS OF NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANISATIONS

Galway East TD and Minister of State for Community Development Seán Canney has launched the third annual report and analysis by Benefacts, an organisation that provides statistics on not-for-profit, voluntary and charitable organisations.
At the launch in Dublin, Minister Canney said the analysis was a valuable resource for anyone looking for information.
He added: “I recently took the opportunity to use the Benefacts search service to look at the picture of non-profits in Galway.
“I found 13 locally-based organisations working for people with disabilities, 58 group water schemes, 22 organisations involved in social or sheltered housing and 290 institutions providing primary, secondary or third-level education.
“This kind of information and the analysis with it from Benefacts used to be only available to people who had the time or money to commission surveys of one-off studies.
“I am very pleased to see that this information is now accessible to all.”
Benefacts came into existence in 2014 following a funding partnership between the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, Atlantic Philanthropies and the Ireland Funds.
