I have been informed that the long journey on two projects in Tuam are progressing to construction stage and contractors will be on site in the coming months.
“The new 50 bed Community Nursing Unit to replace the existing Arus Mhuire building is set to commence construction on site in the next month. The project which is estimated to cost €20 million including the fit-out will provide in excess of 50 jobs and provide a modern spacious 50 bed unit including a high dependency unit”.
“I acknowledge the generously of the late Joe O’Toole in donating €7 million towards the project”.
“I have also been informed that the tenders for the refurbishment of the Old Grove site are now being assessed with a Building Contractor to be appointed in the coming months”.
“This project consists of a new Mental Health Day Hospital and a Disability Service Unit. This project represents an investment of €10 million and will rejuvenate the entire site which is an eyesore presently”.
“I want to acknowledge the support and assistance of Simon Harris TD and Finian McGrath who were Ministers for Heath and Disabilities respectively in helping me drive these projects on. I organised both Ministers to visit the site at crucial times during the journey to acquire the necessary funding”.
“This is a massive investment which will have huge benefit for the people to Tuam and North Galway for many years to come”.
