Youth Work Ireland services around County Galway have all continued to operate since the lockdown on March 12, providing one to one support via telephone, Zoom and WhatsApp and group work via Zoom.
The services include Tuam Youth Services, East Galway Youth Project, Youth Information, Loughrea Youth Project, Treo Nua Garda Diversion, Junction Garda Diversion, HIP Project and Galway County Comhairle na nÓg.
Supports are also being provided to volunteer-led youth clubs to help them keep in contact with youth club members.
A free counselling service has been operating since mid-April providing support from qualified and accredited counsellors for young people aged between 12 and 21 years.
Youth Work Ireland has offered support for those dealing with the lockdown and has been working with Leaving Cert students about their new grading arrangements, as well as promoting COVID-19 guidelines and offering mental health supports.
