I have received confirmation from the HSE that presently there are over 1200 patients on waiting lists for podiatry services in Galway. This up from the February waiting numbers of 686 patients.

“There are two main issues affecting the service by the fact that there are 2 vacant Podiatrist posts and there is no service available in Tuam.

The fact the numbers waiting is increasing at an alarming rate is not right and I am calling on the HSE to expedite the appointment process.

In February there was one vacant position, and I was informed by the HSE that the recruitment was at an advanced stage and now in May there are two vacancies.

It is not fair on patients who need podiatry services that they must wait for this important service”.
