Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports and Leader in Cabinet of the Independent Ministers, has welcomed confirmation that all eligible farm safety applications submitted under the latest tranche of TAMS 3 will again be approved.
Minister Canney said the decision provides important certainty for farmers investing in safer working conditions and improved facilities on their farms.
“Farm safety has to remain a priority on every farm and it is very welcome that 100% of eligible applications under the Farm Safety Capital Investment Scheme will once again be approved,” Minister Canney said.
“This scheme is helping farmers make practical improvements that can prevent accidents, improve working conditions and make farms safer places for families and workers.”
He also welcomed the increased emphasis being placed on nutrient storage investments, with 75% of eligible applications set to be approved under the latest tranche and changes now being introduced to the Ranking and Selection (RASS) criteria to further prioritise nutrient storage investments in future rounds.
“These changes recognise the importance of helping farmers invest in modern nutrient storage facilities as the sector continues to respond to water quality and environmental challenges,” Minister Canney said.
Minister Canney also welcomed the extension of the closing date for TAMS 3 Tranche 12 to June 19th saying it would give farmers and advisors additional time to prepare and resubmit applications where needed.
Nationally, more than 63,700 applications have now been submitted under TAMS 3, with over €161 million already paid out to farmers for on-farm investments.
