Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports and Leader in Cabinet of the Independent Ministers, has welcomed €40,000 in capital funding for Family Resource Centres in Tuam, Gort, Loughrea and Headford.
The funding will provide €10,000 each to:
- Brú Bhríde, Tuam
- Gort Family Resource Centre
- Loughrea Family Resource Centre
- Solas Resource Centre, Headford
The allocations form part of a €1.36 million once-off capital investment in Ireland’s network of 136 Family Resource Centres. Each centre will receive a €10,000 grant under the 2026 Family Resource Centre Capital Fund.
Minister Canney said: “Family Resource Centres provide important supports to individuals and families in communities across Galway, and this funding will allow these four centres to make practical improvements to their facilities and services.
“The €10,000 allocations can support improvements to premises, equipment, accessibility, ICT and other infrastructure.
“I want to acknowledge the staff and volunteers involved in each of the centres for the important work they do in supporting people in their local communities.”
The funding can be used for a range of capital works and improvements, including minor building works and refurbishment, accessibility, health and safety and security improvements, furniture and fittings, equipment, ICT and telecommunications, digital systems, and energy-efficiency or sustainability improvements.
Two further Family Resource Centres in County Galway will also receive €10,000 each: ARD/Doughiska Family Resource Centre in Galway City and Clann Resource Centre in Oughterard, bringing the total allocation to the six Galway centres to €60,000.
