I had a good meeting at Leinster House this week with Nursing Homes Ireland. They are campaigning for

  1. A review of the system for setting nursing home prices under the Nursing Home Support Scheme
  2. Removal of the healthcare assistant role from the Ineligible Categories of Employment for Employment Permits list on a controlled basis
  3. New and revised GP contracts to recognise and resource GPs to meet regulatory requirements, obligations and the duties of GPs to meet the GP care needs of nursing home residents.

It was great to meet Frances Neylin of the Windmill Group who is chairperson of the Western Region for Nursing Homes Ireland and Brian and Cora McNamara of Greenpark Nursing Home, Tuam.
