I have received confirmation that Galway County Council has given approval to the Derryoober Group Water Scheme to progress to tender for upgrade works to the water supply.
There have been issues with water quality in the scheme. The works include the boring of a new well to source better-quality water and to install a bulk meter and individual meters.
This is a significant milestone for the Group Water Scheme and hopefully will enable the provision of a top-class quality water supply for the houses affected.
I have been very supportive of the Group Water Schemes who have provided a great service to families and farms in
rural Ireland over the last number of decades I am delighted that the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government is continuing to fund upgrades to these schemes to ensure a continuous
supply of clean, safe drinking water.
